  1. My wife and I have another trail for you to consider. The American Tobacco Trail. The trail is located just west of Cary and east of Jordan Lake. The southern end of the trail is located on New Hill Road just south of Rt. 64. The first 8 miles or so is a crushed gravel surface with a few road crossings and gates. At a road crossing there is a large picnic/parking area with bathrooms and water. The surface changes to asphalt from here north. The path is wide with a gravel path along side for multi use (horses) and travel toward Durham and Southpoint mall. There is a beautiful arched bridge that crosses I40. The trail continues into Durham but it gets somewhat sketchy and we don't go much past the bridge. Roundtrip is approximately 32 miles.
