Quarry Park Information

  • Heading east on the Salem Creek Greenway, just before the Reynolds Park Road Bridge underpass, take the paved cutoff on the right and ride up to Peachtree Street.
  • Turn right on Peachtree, ride about 100 yards, and turn left into the paved Quarry Park Greenway entrance.
  • Ride about .3 of a mile (all uphill) until you see a paved cutoff on the left. Turn onto this cutoff (if you keep going straight, the greenway will come to a dead end).
  • After about .1 of a mile, you will cross a bridge and reach the bottom side of the quarry. If the fence gate on the right is open it’s only about 50 yards down to a boat launch area.
  • Turn left and ride about .3 of a mile (all uphill, you are riding from water level to the maximum height of the quarry walls) to the parking lot.
  • Stay on the greenway as it changes to dirt and ride around the upper park to the top right side where the greenway changes back to paved and continues up to WaughtownStreett.
  • On the way back you can stop at tthe viewing platform that extends over the side of the quarry wall.
  • A round trip from the Salem Creek Greenway cutoff to Waughttown Street and back is about than 4 miles (but it's all hills).

The park has water and restrooms but no trees, no shade, lots of winding sidewalks, and no other facilities. You view the quarry, the complete Winston-Salem skyline, and Pilot Mountain in the distance while standing the hot sun and that’s about it.
