The greenway is clear. There some overflow on the concrete sidewalk and some rushing water over the concrete ford but the area is passable Just go slow and remember to be in a low gear so you can get up the steep side of the ford.

The trail is in good shape. The surface is hard with water puddles only in the usual places.

I went to Marketplace Mall to ride the Salem Lake loop but after seeing the level of water in Salem Creek it was obvious the valley at the concrete sidewalk and ford would be impassable so I rode Salem Creek Greenway to the Salem Connector bridge and road the connector into the city. I rode through the city and back down the Salem Strollway to the Salem Creek Greenway and back to the mall. Only 6 miles but it was fun.

It will probably be at least Sunday before the greenway is passable at the ford. At the Reynolds Park Road bridge detour, you can always just ride Reynolds Park Road to Salem Lake Road and down to the lake.

The greenway and trail are closed due to flooding. There will also probably be downed limbs and trees. If it like past heavy rains, the greenway just below the dam at the concrete sidewalk will be unpassable for a few day due to flooding and it will be many days before you can safely cross the concrete ford. When the trail is opened again, there will be more deep ruts on the hills and new rocks and roots will be exposed, and it will be that way for months before the city does anything about it.

I rode from Marketplace Mall along the greenway to the dam, looped the lake, and returned.
  • Greenway concrete dip has a 4-foot wide overflow; no problem crossing it.
  • Greenway and trail are clear with no new problems.

Still not quite back to normal from the effects of vertigo so I just rode one loop of the lake
  • Trail still has some deep ruts on hills and deep sand puddles at the bottom of hills so be careful.
  • Foliage is all thick and green so visibility through curves is limited so be careful in curves.
  • Sun shining through the leaves makes a camouflage pattern on the trail that hides hazards so be careful.

I've been experiencing vertigo since Easter so I have not been riding. Today, it seems to be going away so maybe tomorrow I'll be back in the saddle.

  • Due to heavy rain, trail has some deep ruts on hills and deep sand puddles at the bottom of hills so be careful.
  • Reynolds Park Road bridge detour is still in effect, but no work is being done over the weekend. If you try to go through the work zone, you will have to walk around building material and equipment, deal with mud, and have to lift your bike over two plastic retaining walls. It's easier to take the detour.

I rode from lower parking lot at WSSU along the greenway to the dam, looped the lake, and returned.
  • Greenway and trail are in good condition.
  • Greenway concrete dip has about an inch of overflow.
  • Trail has some nasty ruts on hills due to heavy rain and puddles of loose sand in the curves at the bottom of hills, so be careful.

I rode from Marketplace Mall along the greenway to the bridge replacement detour, and due to greenway flooding below the dam, I took Reynolds Park Road to the lake via the main entrance, looped the lake, and returned the same way. Windy, 17 mph. Few bikes on the trail but lots of walker and runners.
  • Greenway was flooded at the concrete ford.
  • Trail was not soft or flooded but the big hill on the south side of the lake had heavy rutting, so be careful..

  • Lot of people on the trail. Lots of idiots on the trail; I had to stop and sometimes run off the edge of the trail because of them.
