I cycled from Marketplace Mall on the Salem Creek Greenway to WSSU, north on MLK Blvd, east on Lowery St. that extends beside Bus. 40, and then left onto the Bushy Fork Greenway. I rode north on Bushy Fork by Skyland Park, Evergreen Cemetery, and Lakeside "Villas" to Winston Lake Park. Then I turned around and returned. It was a 12-mile loop.

Bushy Fork Greenway is not a scenic nor a particularly safe ride. There is LOTS of trash everywhere, broken glass on the greenway, and graffiti on every vertical surface. It is obviously a hangout for trouble makers. I would not ride there after school hours and certainly not after dark.

There are plans to connect the Bushy Fork Greenway to the Salem Creek Creekway in the near future. Maybe not a good idea.

Did a Marketplace Mall, greenway to the dam, lake loop, and return to the mall (16 miles) in 1:23:24; best time was 1:07:50 in 2013.

Both the greenway and the trail are in good condition.

Detour at Reynolds Park Road bridge is still in effect.

Lots of dog walkers on the trail today.

The tree is still down across the trail on the north side of the lake. Be careful, if you are coming from the east end of the lake, the tree is just around a blind curve. The city will get to it in due time. They don't let public safety to interfere with a city holiday.

Still some small overflow at the concrete dip on the greenway; the drain pipe must be clogged.

Greenway closed at Reynolds Park Road due to bridge construction, so you must use the detor. Looks like it they are at the point where it will be closed everyday for a few months.

Tree down across the trail on north side of the lake. Last time this happened I hit the tree and dived over it; this time I stopped and stepped over it. It feels much better to do it this way. Maybe they will remove the tree on Monday.

Yesterday, I rode CCW and CW loops of the lake in afternoon; it was crowded.

Today, I rode the Marketplace Mall to the dam, a loop of the lake, and return in the morning, it was crowded.

It looks as if you can ride through the bridge construction at Reynolds Park Road on the weekends when they are not working. The construction crews even scraped mud off the greenway.

I ate a B and a Tea at Mr. B and then started the ride at WSSU. Sidewalk valley has been flushed by the flooding; the creek has no limbs in it. Some overflow in the concrete dip even after 10 days since the rain. Greenway is closed at the Reynolds Park Road underpass; you must take the short detour. Trail has had some grading and filling of ruts; it will last until the next rain. Construction of the new Taj Mahal marina center is progressing.
